The Caeté Plant, located in São Miguel dos Campos (AL), received, on February 26th, an official delegation from the Government of Mexico for a technical visit to its industrial and agricultural facilities.

The main objective of the agenda was to present the sugar and ethanol production flowchart, highlighting the best practices adopted by the company in the context of the energy transition, focusing on operational efficiency, sustainability, and technological innovation.

The visit was led by the CEO of Usina Caeté, Aryl Lyra; the Superintendent of Agricultural Operations, Mário Sérgio Matias; and the Industrial Manager of the headquarters, Juliano Sampaio. The company representatives accompanied the delegation throughout the technical tour, detailing the production processes, industrial optimization strategies, and initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impacts.

The program also featured the presence of Cândido Carnaúba Mota, coordinator of the Technical Department of Sindaçúcar-AL, and João Messias, vice-coordinator of the Sugarcane Genetic Improvement Program (PMGCA/RIDESA), reinforcing the relevance of scientific research and innovation for strengthening the sugar-energy chain.

According to Juliano Sampaio, industrial manager of Usina Caeté, the visit reinforces the international recognition of Brazilian expertise in the sector. “Receiving an official delegation from the Mexican government demonstrates the relevance of the work we develop here at Caeté. This technical exchange strengthens cooperation between the countries, values the sugarcane and energy industry, and expands opportunities for sustainable development through ethanol and other renewable energy solutions.”

The Mexican delegation was composed of engineer Belém Patricia Falcón Varela, Director of Planning and Strategies of the Subsecretariat of Hydrocarbons (Secretariat of Energy – SENER); Dr. Jorge García de la Cruz, Deputy Director of Technologies and Alternative Energies at PEMEX; Julio César de Regil González, Director of Biofuels of the Subsecretariat of Planning and Energy Transition (SENER); and Bárbara Bressan Rocha, representative of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME).

“Mexico is a country that is entering the concept of ethanol. They are coming to Brazil in search of knowledge. We are able to share all the experience acquired along this path and, at the same time, understand a little about the culture, the concept, the technology and the prospects for expansion and growth of ethanol in the country,” noted the Superintendent of Agricultural Operations, Mário Sérgio Matias.

This initiative highlights Brazil’s leading role in the international renewable energy landscape and reaffirms the strategic role of the sugarcane energy sector in promoting sustainable solutions, expanding international cooperation, and building an increasingly clean and decarbonized energy matrix.
